It took me a little longer than I'd planned to post the photos from the Anime Expo in Los Angeles. Now you can find some of the photos here. There are quite a few more to post along with some videos, but it's going to take a few more days to get those up.
The trip was well worth it and we accomplished quite a bit of research for the project. Having never been to a major anime conference before, the trip was a real eye opener. We have quite a bit of planning and work to do before next summer when we hope to release some of the story as a manga.
On this trip, we were doing research for a marketing plan once we have something to release. We were also looking to make a few contacts, and on that front we were very successful. We met 30-40 artists in artist alley who we plan to follow up with and have to some character art for us. Jason and I also make contacts with people from Manga Studio, Wacom, EigoManga and several others.
I especially enjoyed hearing Danny Choo speak on Culture Japan.
One of the things that really blew me away was the shear volume of people. I've never attended a conference with 45,000 attendees. People were everywhere, and the cosplay was all around. It was a fun time and one that's inspired me to try to find a couple of more conferences to attend this year.
